FESTIVE SESSION 2022
The programme started with 5 workshops such as "Mental Health in Challenging Times - A Challenge For Complexity Science" led by our member Guenter Schiepek, followed by "Digitalization, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Societal Impact" under President Klaus Mainzer, and the workshop of the expert group "Environment, Climate, and Energy" with Chair Sergio Orlandi. In the workshop of the expert group "Official Journal of EASA", the new journal of the Academy Proceedings of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (PEASA) was presented with its founder and editor-in-chief Ioannis Liritzis, who also concluded the workshop series with his further expert group "Education- Research- Innovation."
After the welcome speech by President Klaus Mainzer : EASA _Inauguration Speech English 2022 and Member of the Landtag Karl Zallinger, 49 new members from 20 different countries were admitted to the Academy.
This year, for the first time, the Academy awarded the Paul Crutzen Medal for merits with respect to the responsibilty of mankind for climate and environment and practical applications, and in future, annually at the Festive Plenary in Salzburg.

The Paul Crutzen medal was awarded to Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker, who has already received several awards for his environmental commitment. He gave his keynote speech on the topic "The Anthropocene turns out to be a nightmare. But Paul Crutzen gave it a name."
