From Waste to Art: Xiao Hui Wang’s Sustainable Art Practice
At a time when environmental protection and sustainable development have become pressing global concerns, the question of what role art can play has gained increasing relevance. For many years, Xiao Hui Wang, artist and member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA), Class III, has addressed this question through her own creative practice.
As early as 2002, when she was invited by Audi to participate in an exhibition of image-based art, Wang created Green · Shadow, a work centred on environmental awareness and the idea of sustainability. Through artistic language, the project explored the relationship between human beings and nature, industrial civilisation, and sustainable development. Since then, reflection on the environment, materials, and patterns of consumption has become a significant and enduring thread in her artistic work.
