Gold Decoration of Honour to Willibald Plessas, Class IV
On 11 June 2026, Willibald Plessas was awarded the Golden Medal of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria in the auditorium of the Old University of Graz. Governor Mario Kunasek, acting on behalf of Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, presented federal honours and professional titles to distinguished public figures.
Willibald Plessas is an associate professor emeritus at the University of Graz, an elected member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA), Class IV, and a long-standing president of the Society of Friends of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. From 2003 to 2008, he also served as Chair of the University Council of the University of Graz.
