On 31 October 2025, his new work «Ode til lyset» (Ode to Light) was premiered at the harbour of Næstved, Denmark – a commission by the light festival Kulturbro til Europa and the initiative Næstved 2032 - European Capital of Culture. Conceived especially for the city of Næstved, the work unites music, architecture, video and light.
More than one hundred participants took part in the premiere, including alto Julie Husballe from the Royal Danish Theatre, the Landesjugendchor Schleswig-Holstein, Holsted Kirkes Kor, Kammerkoret Cantemus and the Ensemble Storstrøm / Danish Chamber Players under the direction of Jørgen Graven Nielsen.
Approximately 2,000 spectators attended the premiere, with a further 500 visitors experiencing the installation on the following day. The work continues to be presented daily until 16 November 2025 at the city’s harbour, featuring two evening performances each day.
The composer, academic and artistic director Marios Joannou Elia is the elected Vice-Dean of the Class of Arts at the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
