23th International Talents Exchange Conference/NIL Conference

President Klaus Mainzer was on a lecture tour through China from 11 to 22 October at the invitation of several renowned Chinese universities.

The lecture series began with his plenary lecture, Future of AI in Science and Engineering: From Foundations of Computing to Emerging Technologies, at DACOMA-25, the 5th International Conference on Data-Driven Computing and Machine Learning in Engineering at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Further lectures took place at China Medical University in Shenyang, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Tongji University.

A special highlight of the trip was be the awarding of honorary professorships by Xian'Jiatong University and Soochow University in Suzhou followed by a lecture and reception hosted by the President of Soochow University. His business trip to China  concluded with a lecture and panel discussion at the NIL Conference at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), which took place in Shanghai from 19 to 25 October. The Neurocognitive Image Lab (NIL) is directed by Academician and EASA-member Ernst Pöppel (LMU/Munich, class II/Medicine) and Academician Yan Bao (Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). The SISU is a leading Center of Humanities, Cultural Studies and Languages in China. The foundation of the new Center at SISU was part of the 23th International Talents Exchange with UNESCO, six international Nobel Laureats and an international audience of 3000 scientists at the EXPO area of Shanghai. Many European and Non-European EASA members took part and some of them were invited speakers :
