Sustainable Development Goals – We are lacking dynamics!

Date: 05.03.2020

In 2016, the international community ratified the UN’s Agenda 2030 with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals. All countries committed themselves to implement these goals through globally coordinated national strategies for sustainability until 2030. Already in 2019, we can surmise that due to lacking dynamics most goals will remain unrealized. Prominent examples are climate change, water and biodiversity. IESP dealt with the topic of climate change during its Wildbad Kreuth workshop in 2013 for the first time.
Today we need to ask, why are the majority of SDGs being implemented almost tardily? Does this deficit express political inability or display a lacking volition of consumers and producers? What lobbyists would sabotage an implementation of SDGs out of self-interest? This workshop presents and discusses these questions pertaining to two pressing problems.
