This international online colloquium brings together renowned scholars, legal experts, technologists, and heritage professionals to explore how emerging technologies, ethical responsibility, and global cooperation can safeguard the material and intangible heritage of humanity.
In times of war, natural disaster, and cultural exploitation, the protection of art and heritage is not merely a matter of law — it is a moral imperative. This colloquium will address key contemporary challenges, including repatriation of artifacts, digital reproduction and copyright, AI-generated art, 3D scanning and restoration ethics, and the looting and illicit trafficking of antiquities.
The first round reinforces a continuing international dialogue and will culminate in a Second Round Colloquium later in 2026. Together, these events aim to foster interdisciplinary understanding, bridge science and humanities, and develop actionable strategies strengthening heritage preservation in a rapidly evolving world.
The present initiative marks a significant step in aligning cultural preservation with technological innovation, reaffirming the Academy’s commitment to peace, human dignity, and the enduring value of civilization’s heritage.
