ACADEMIC COLLOQUIUM

In Search of a Lost World: A Colloquium to Honour the First Publication of the Sorrowful Lament of Hassan-agaʼs Noble Wife a Quarter-Century ago.

Alberto Fortis’s publication of the ballad in 1774 in his book Viaggio in Dalmazia sparked intense interest amongst the learned public in most of Europe. Over the following few decades, translations appeared in almost every major European language and interest in the ballad has continued to this day, with many and complex reflections in literature, music, and art.

RECITAL: actress Selma Alispahić of the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo, the German version by Professor Naser Šečerović of the University of Sarajevo, and the English version by its author Professor Jones of Newcastle University.

MUSICAL PERFORMANCE: of Boško Jović’s “Hasanaginica”, a concerto for guitar and violoncello, performed by the composer on the guitar and Belma Alić on the violoncello.
