Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE

Date: 09.12.2023 - 10.12.2023

The University of Silesia in Katowice, together with the consortium and partners from science, education and local government, has started work on organising the European City of Science Katowice 2024. The event will take place from 9 December 2023 to 10 December throughout the Silesian Voivodeship, with the main events taking place in Katowice, which was the first city in Central and Eastern Europe to be awarded the title of European City of Science.
This project aims to improve access to knowledge and research results, raise public interest in scientific achievements and make science a fundamental instrument of public discourse in the process of regional transformation. These goals are to be achieved through a year-long programme to celebrate the designation of Katowice as the European City of Science Katowice 2024 and to launch a discussion of the European professional and scientific community during the EuroScience Open Forum 2024 conference.
Prof. Dr. Klaus Mainzer was invited to take the European City of Science Katowice 2024 under his honorary patronage.
