Proceedings of the symposium on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the reconciliation ceremony in Rog and the centenary of the birth of Archbishop Dr Alojzije Šuštar, 24 June 2020 at the SAZU Hall.

Is Prešeren's call from the Lullaby "unity, happiness, reconciliation, let them come back to us" nowadays directed more towards the past or towards the future? Can we hope that we will one day erect a clear obelisk of reconciliation alongside the existing vague monument to reconciliation? Can we still believe in the fulfilment of the Prešeren wish that 'where the sun goes, strife will be banished from the world' and that we will ever live reconcilably at home too? Can we still achieve a dialogically reasoned conversation about responsibility for the tragic Slovenian divisions in our history? What can be done, repaired and prepared so that we can live reconcilably? Even if not in a pure love that transcends human beings, yet without murderous hatred?

Despite reconciliation with the dead and Slovenian independence, we hear more and more often that we have not achieved real reconciliation.
